Nanticoke
Townsend Webster "TW" Cloud, 88, of Nanticoke passed away Friday, Feb. 4, 2011, at the home that he built and shared with his loving wife of 58 years, Virginia Phillips Cloud.
Mr. Cloud was born in Doe Run, Pa., the youngest son of the late Blaine and Edna Cloud.
Following graduation from Kenneth Square High School in 1940, he proudly served in the U.S. Army during World War II (1942-45) in the European campaign.
Until his retirement in 1984, he worked as a master carpenter and remained an active member of Carpenters Union 2012 of Seaford.
He was a lifetime cattle farmer, raising cattle for the past 50 years on his farm, and a member of the Cattleman's Association and a regular attendee of Nanticoke United Methodist Church.
Mr. Cloud is survived by his wife, Virginia; two daughters, Carolyn McCormack (Frank) of Pasedena, Md., and Marilyn Adkins (Jim) of Mardela Springs; four grandchildren, Capt. lan McCormack (Katie), Amy McCormack, James Adkins III and Christopher Adkins (Michele); a great-grandson; and a stepgreat- grandaughter. He is also survived by a sister, Roselda Cloud Heald of New Castle, Del.; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held Friday at noon at Nanticoke United Methodist Church, with interment in Turners Cemetery in Nanticoke. Friends may call Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at the church and one hour before the service on Friday.
